Planning granted for another exciting 6-bedroom home in a beautiful Canterbury suburb. The opportunity to revive an out of date, tired mid-20th Century dwelling and inject new life into it, has been very fulfilling.
The proposal was to demolish the single storey attached double garage and rear conservatory, and replace it with a new 21st Century, contemporary 2-storey extension of high quality design. To create further space, we conceived of wrapping a single storey- flat roof extension around the original building. This helps to visually connect the double storey extension to the original, whilst minimising the impact, scale and massing of a large extension, on a sensitive site.
The new accommodation is now triple the size of the existing! We have kept the lines clean where possible, adopting a rendered parapet to the gables, both on the extension and the existing. The palette has been kept simple and minimal to create a glamorous yet unfussy aesthetic.
